Why does my quarry deliver a different tonnage than your calculator estimated?
Natural bulk aggregates vary widely in density due to moisture content, quarry mineral composition, and aggregate compaction. For example, wet crushed stone can weigh 10% to 20% more than dry stone, even though volume in cubic yards remains unchanged. Our tools use standard ASTM dry-to-damp bulk benchmarks. Always request a density slip from your local supplier.
How do I calculate yardage for curved or irregular garden beds?
For irregular or kidney-shaped beds, break the space down into geometric sections (e.g. 2 rectangles and 1 semi-circle), calculate each section individually, and add the cubic yardage totals together. Alternatively, measure the maximum length and average width, then apply our standard rectangular calculator.
